The 拢1 fares apply when they are running a sale so just keep checking back on their website. They only apply for limited numbers of flights and usually you still pay the tax. Avoid paying add ons by not taking checked in bags and checking in online.

My answer to a similar question. These sites are all pretty safe to go through. Just be sure you understand policies, etc. in case you need to cancel or change your flight. Look over what you book several times to make sure it is what you want/need. As far as the one site that is the best, it's really hard to tell you. They will all vary and change all the time. One site may be lower for one person, higher for the next. You just have to do your research and see what yo find. In my expereince, the cheapest way to go is directly through the airline. In my past dozen trips, that I can remember, the airline has always been cheaper than the online discounters. Just look around and see what you can find.



Check around online. There are several online discounters, like expedia, priceline, orbitz, etc. This is usually the cheapest way to go. But you should also check directly through airline sites to see if they are running a special. For example, air tran often offers discounted tickets on Tuesdays and Thursdays and it is cheaper than through other online sites. Also watch in the newspapers and such, they often advertise specials in the newspaper.

I checked other websites and airlines but found the best deals there. also what was very helpful was travelzoo.com, do a supersearch and it will search more than one site at a time. You may also look up different airports b/c the preices may be very different to the same destination.

It's probably best to choose one city to fly in and out of and an airline and ticket that allows you to change your return date for a nominal fee if you need to change it. Airlines like Cathay Pacific have an All-Asia pass that allows travel for a limited number of days, but does require you to reserve all your flights.

Also check prices via websites like kayak.com and perhaps the best would be to call a local airline and check directly with them about any current rates and/or discounts (this last one was how I recently found the best deal). The first answer gives poor advice -- there are no airlines operating between FLL and TOL that offer standby tickets at all, so showing up and asking for one will do absolutely no good. (In fact, showing up at the last minute to purchase a ticket will have the exact opposite result as what is desired here -- the ticket will be considerably more expensive than the same ticket purchased two or three weeks in advance.)



That having been said, the cheapest round-trip fare between these airports right now is $214 so plus tax, on Delta. The only way you're going to pay less than that, barring a fare sale, is to try placing bids through Priceline or Hotwire. (I don't know, however, whether they would accept bids as low as the prices you're willing to pay.)



If you're looking only for a one-way ticket, then getting one for less than $100 probably won't happen. The lowest one-way fare on that route is $127 plus tax, also on Delta, but since Priceline and Hotwire won't sell one-way tickets using their bidding options, neither of those websites will help.



With respect to your other options (the train or bus), a quick search of the Greyhound and Amtrak websites both note that, in addition to the considerable amount of extra time that must be taken to make the trips (both options will take more than a day each way), there are no cost savings -- both the train and bus are in the neighborhood of $140-$150 each way. Depending on actual demand on a given day, though, they may end up being cheaper than flying if fares are high on your specific travel dates.

i search some popular sites sometimes, like expedia and travelocity, but I feel like I'm always getting a sucker price. I always hear of people getting international flights for like $500-600, when the price I always see is well over $1k.

Here are my tips for finding flights:



The first thing is timing. If you buy too early, you鈥檒l pay too much. However, if you wait too long, you鈥檒l also pay too much. I鈥檝e been on both sides of this, myself. I鈥檝e bought too early and also bought too late.



Start looking at flights around 6 months before you want to travel. That will give you an idea of what a typical flight costs. Around 3 months before your trip, start checking daily. If you see the price go below the normal price you saw earlier, buy the tickets.



Something to note is the cost of checking in bags. Some airlines can charge up to $50 per bag per flight. That means up to $100 round trip. Certain airlines allow you to check in bags for free. Southwest Airlines currently allows passengers to check in two bags free of charge. JetBlue currently allows passengers to check in one bag free of charge.



I always start with Kayak ( http://www.kayak.com ). It鈥檚 a search website that checks various other websites, such as Orbitz and CheapTickets. It will list all of the airlines that fly the route you want, with the exception of some discount airlines (most notably Southwest). My typical process when looking for a flight is the following:



1. I look on Kayak to see what airlines fly the route I want, and which airlines are reasonably priced. I write down the top 3 or 4 airlines.



2. I check the airline websites from my Kayak search. For example, if the cheapest airline Kayak gave me was Continental, I鈥檇 go on the Continental website to see the fare.



3. I take a look at the discount airlines that fly that route and compare their price. I鈥檇 be sure to check Southwest鈥檚 prices ( http://www.southwest.com ), as their fares don鈥檛 show up on Kayak. I鈥檇 also check Direct Air鈥檚 prices ( http://www.visitdirectair.com ), but their flight options are limited.



4. Keep an eye on the flight prices until I see them go down, or unless they seem low enough already.



I have never seen a ticket be cheaper on a search website than on the airline鈥檚 website. The advantage to using a search website like Orbitz/Travelocity/Priceline/Expedia is that you can combine airlines to give you the most convenient itinerary possible. However, this will cost you more, too. I鈥檝e only purchased from Orbitz once, and that was because I waited until the last minute to buy an international flight during Christmas. Needless to say, I paid quite a bit and didn鈥檛 have very many options.

There's no website or airline that will ALWAYS be the "cheapest". Everyone has a different opinion on what's "cheap".....That's why you have to shop around every time you book ANY travel. Try to be flexible on your dates and times. If you can drive a short distance to a "less" busy airport, that might help save some money. Try to book your flight early am or late pm, that can sometimes save money. Weekdays are usually cheaper than weekends.

But don't limit your search to ONLY those "well-known" travel sites (most are owned by the same company) which means not much difference in the price. They make you think you're stuck with that price! So,be sure to check other travel sites; otherwise you might miss out on a great deal!

The airlines want to fly as many people as they can to the destination they are going to (this is true with just about any type of transportation). I called the cruise line and they offered it to me for a 'member discount' of $899... saved $400! AND was not even a member of that cruise line. To save $400 I can definitely make a 15 minute phone call.

I went with Air India and had a very pleasant surprise. It was fine.I booked through Travelocity.com,but booking direct with the airline is just as good usually. Food and service on board were good,with a choice of Indian or western meals,and the cabin staff were really helpful. I totally messed up in Mumbai on the way back,over a luggage problem from a connecting flight,and missed the flight back to London,even after they'd held the plane for twenty minutes. What an Embarrassment! My fault entirely,but the ground staff were very kind and sympathetic and booked me onto the next day's flight at no extra cost. Can't imagine BA doing that! I had a month in southern India,mostly in Kerala,and really enjoyed it, but the Keralan food was sometimes too hot and spicy even for northern Indians!.There were plenty of western-style restuarants,though,of a high standard,and very cheap. What's the best way to find cheap flights to Greece?
There are very cheap flights from all Europe to Greece. Also from May to October there are even cheaper ones that are charter flights.If you could find a cheap flight from US to London or Germany for example you could then find a very cheap flight from there for sure.
I just booked my 8th trip ticket for Athens. Flying out of Memphis to Atlanta to Athens and paid about $400 usd more than I did the last 2 years. Think was about 1683. tax and all for my flight. Going in summer is the high season and its so much higher then than in early spring time. I have even flown early in year for as low as around $600 tax and all.

You should be able to get a direct flight from Detroit to London (I hate Heathrow though) and like the other one said then get a plane from there on into Athens.

Frankly, I just go on and book early because the later you try the less seats are going to be available for you. In fact a couple times I saw tickets for about 1500 usd but then you have about 3 layovers or there were no seats to be had.

I don't use JFK or London...JFK every time have been booked to go thru there I am stuck there due to weather or its cancelled all together. As for Heathrow, yeah they speak English but I spent hours trying to get pointed in right direction to flight center for another flight was cancelled so missed my connection out of London. NO one knew where to tell me to go!!!!! Also, they don't post gates until about 30 min before boarding time so then you run to find where you need to go......NO WAY will I deal with all that again.

Before I get bashed by ones from UK, its not the country am referring to but Heathrow. I'll take a 8 hr layover in Amsterdam airport any day over that.
Find a cheap flight to Europe (London, Frankfurt, Paris, etc) and then check the flight costs from that city to Greece. As an example, I found a flight from Naples, Italy to Frankfurt Germany for 0.01Euro (20Euro with all taxes). You can find dirt cheap inter-Europe flights if you are willing to search for them.
If you can find a cheap flind to London or Berlin, you can get a very cheap flight from there to Athens with www.easyjet.com or British Airways. Good luck, I hope you have a nice vacation. Check Olympic Airways too, I know it is sometimes expensive, but it is a safe company with good service

If it's sold out...then look at Olympic airlines and the Alitalia.



Otherwise, call travel agencies and shop around for the cheapest prices. If you get a low price from one agency, call another and tell them the low price and then they will lower their price.

The best advice I can give is to shop around. Everyone has a different idea on what's "cheap". Only you know what works for you....Unfortunately, December is the most expensive time of year for travel! Be flexible with your dates and times of travel. Check nearby airports (less busy ones) sometimes a short drive can save some money.



Think of all these websites like "grocery stores", they all "sell" the same thing - the only difference will be the price. Same thing with the travel industry. And just like those "major" grocery stores, the same applies to the "major" travel websites (many are owned by the same company, which means not much difference in price!) There are loads of price comparison websites about. A couple have been mentioned already and you could also try expedia and travelsupermarket. Just type "cheap flights to" and add the Aussie city you want to go to.

when you spot a flight you like check it out on the airline's own website before you buy to see if it is cheaper. You can also find out a few other things like your baggage allowance, where the plane stops for refuelling and how long for. This can make a big difference to the enjoyment of the flight if you can get off and relax for a while.

BA only serve Sydney now from the UK but they code share extensively with Qantas and flights on the BA site are, strangely enough, often cheaper than on the Qantas site for the same flight.

Emirates are a Personal favourite of mine because they depart from a number of regional airports in the UK to Dubai where you can get flights to all the major Australian cities. They offer a service non stop to Sydney from Dubai for example on the new A380 which I can tell you is a great plane.

KLM and air France also offer services to Australia but you would have to fly via Amsterdam or Paris and then still have a refuelling stop. This makes for a very long journey.

Currently, the cheapest value fares would be from Emirates and Singapore. Singapore has regular promotions for their A380 legs, so you can fly Uk to Singapore, Singapore to Melb/Syd on the A380 for around $1k-$1.5k.



For the absolutely cheapest flights you can not beat Airasia. However its not a direct flight, you need to book a leg from Lon to Kuala Lumpure, Malaysian. And then Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne or Gold Coast. All up you can get for less then $1000 return on special. Some fares as low as $800.

I went to www.expedia.co.uk. You can only type in one date at a time which is a bit annoying. The cheapest I found was 拢396. A lot of them are 拢415-550 though.



Then I went to www.airfrance.co.uk where I booked mine for 拢415 approx. Type in your destinations %26amp; dates as usual, but with this site it shows you the prices for all dates %26amp; prices within a week either side. So if you're not fussy about a particular date then you should find one for 拢415 approx.



You stop in France, so it's not a direct flight, but it's worth it if it's the cheapest. The earlier you book the better!

Many ppl aren't aware that you can get cheap rates directly thru the airlines. It will involve either time on the airlines website or on the phone, but you can get special deals %26amp; the representatives can also tell you a time of day or a specific day to fly out that will make it cheaper. Even a route that leaves from a different airport can be $50-100 less (if you are within an hour-2 hours from more than 1 airport). If you still aren't sure about a destination but are willing to get out of the house, you can go to a travel agency %26amp; peruse the brochures. Fights to Alicante from Norwich are on a Tuesday only, with Thomson Airways, and finish on the 26th April, 2011. They are also expensive.



Your best bet will be Ryanair from Stansted or Gatwick or, alternatively, EasyJet from Stansted, Luton or Gatwick.

Unfortunately, this year, Easter is late and with the school holidays being from the 9th-25th April, flights during that month are more expensive than normal.
One thing to remember is everyone has a different idea on what is "cheap".....and many of those well-known "major" travel sites are owned by the same company, which means normally not much differences in their prices. And the problem with just checking those sites only, is you might miss out on great deals that may be available on another travel site!

You have to think of these online travel sites like grocery stores - they all sell the same thing, the only difference is their price. SO - Why pay more for the same thing the other guys are selling???

To find cheap flights from the UK I would try Priceline.co.uk. Other good websites to try from the UK are Expedia.com and 1800flyEurope.
