This shows the details of their 拢65 flight, Brum is about 1.5 hours from Cambridge.
Isle of Man is boring.
Hi. I live on the Isle of Man.
Cheapest from Cambridge is National Express to Liverpool and get the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company ferry to Douglas but they only run the route from Liverpool/Birkenhead at weekends through the winter, daily in summer from Liverpool.
Otherwise you need to get to Heysham near Lancaster for the ferry, which goes at 1415 and 0215 but National Express isn't very helpful with those.
Two coaches a day into Lancaster and neither of them any good for the ferries whether arriving at or leaving Heysham port so it means getting a train to Lancaster.
I sometim s go to Liverpool with National Express then train to Lancaster via Preston as a cheap option for Heysham from Luton. Lime Street station is a few minutes walk from Norton Streeet coach station.
Just along the platform at Lancaster you can get a local train straight to the boat for the 1415 ferry.
Piccie of it here at Heysham port.

Total cost from Cambridge for the coach, trains, and ferry around 拢100 return via Heysham, 拢85 via Liverpool.

Nothing is laid on for the 0215 sailing from Heysham.
(BTW it's pronounced Heesham, not Haysham)
Best you can do is a bus at 7pm from Lancaster bus station to Heysham Towers and walk the last mile and a half to the ferry terminal, and then wait till they let you on the boat at 1am or a bit after. A long boring and usually cold wait.
If you get the night boat back again, arriving just before 1am at Heysham, you sit there and freeze till the buses run from Heysham Towers at 0730. I've slept there in a sleeping bag a few times.
If the sea is too rough the boat won't be sailing anyway.
Look on the Steam Packet website for news or you'll get a text message on the phone if you bought a ticket and gave them a number.
Great eh? We call it the cattle boat. It's real name is Ben -my- Chree....Manx for 'Girl of my Heart'. It isn't the best boat that name has been on though. The old Ben-my-Chree was a darling of a boat.
This one ...yurgh! ...first pic.

Or.....pay the money and fly from Luton or Birmingham. There is no such thing any more as a cheap flight to the Isle of Man, whatever it says in the adverts.
If you manage it for under 拢150 return from Luton you're lucky.
National Express takes around 1 1/2 hours from Cambridge to Luton and it's a pleasant ride.
I have friends in Cambridge. Love the place, and I come from near Luton originally. I'm close to there now, visiting family.
It drops you off right outside the terminal at Luton Airport. Here's one dropping off

The flight takes just over an hour, via Milton Keynes, then a bit left of Birmingham, turn left over the Dee Estuary and then 20 minutes more to get over the Irish Sea. Quite a pleasant flight with some decent views on a good day. Sit on the left for the best views of the Welsh mountains.
Flights from Birmingham are usually no cheaper than Luton flights but you might save some time.
Birmingham is a lot better to leave from than Luton, which is a nightmare some days for massive queues at security (flightmare?). National Express drop off right in front of the terminal. Birmingham is quite a pleasant airport.

Buses to Douglas and Port Erin run every 30 minutes through the day, hourly in the evening, from right outside Ronaldsway airport.
Flights are not cheap but they are a lot more convenient, especially in cold windy weather.
Enjoy the trip. Aigh vie...best of luck.
