Going to Australia and New Zealand this December around the 16the and planning to come back around the 7the of January, 2012. The dates are flexible +/- 2 days. Traveling from NYC to Melbourne or Sydney for a week and then to South Island of New Zealand for 2 weeks. Should I visit Melbourne since the flights are cheaper To there or if going to Australia I should definitely visit Sydney? What do you guys think who have visited there? Sydney is where most flights will go to if you are flying from the U.S. The city is really beautiful and worth seeing. Melbourne is nice as well. They play the Australian Open there.
As for cheap tickets, you will have to go to either http://www.kayak.com or have a travel agent quote you a price. Know that travel during that time will not be cheap because it is close to Christmas time and December is when the weather starts getting warmer in the southern hemisphere.
