When is the best time to go to Vegas for cheap flights and hotels?

in 2009 I went around Sept. and stayed at the Luxor for 3 nights. flight and hotel was just under $400. now I see that its nearly doubled that price. so what is a good time to go now? When is the best time to go to Vegas for cheap flights and hotels?
Friday night, Saturday night, and holidays are always priced higher than Sunday thru Thursday. So that's the first step to take: plan you trip for a Sunday or Monday arrival and leave before Friday night.

Second, you need to check the convention calendar http://www.lvcva.com/meetings/convention鈥?/a>

Many people have no clue about how much conventions influence prices. If 5,000 people are coming to a convention at Mandalay Bay on July 12, a room at Mandalay Bay (if they're not sold out) will be outrageously overpriced. The CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in January pretty much sells out every hotel on the strip. So you have to avoid large conventions completely, and medium sized conventions near the specific hotel you plan to stay at. Convention goers tend to try to get a room at the hotel where the convention is located, or a nearby hotel.

Third, the time of year has some impact on prices. Winter and summer are generally less expensive than spring and fall in Las Vegas. Winter brings freezing temperatures and flash floods; summer brings 110 degree heat every day; so experienced travelers prefer the less extreme weather of April, May, October, November.

My favorite "sweet spot" is after the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is over, but before the Christmas holiday. It's one of the least crowded times of year on the Las Vegas strip.
= Let me answer your question taking into account few cases -

Vegas is a place where you need a hotel to just stay and relax and stretch legs. Most of time you will be out site seeing or partying late night. So it doesnt make sense to spend a lot of money on staying specially if you are on a budget.

1) If you are going with friends and you gusy are comfortable, just book one room with 2 queen beds and crash in it. I remember first time when I went there, we all were students and 5-6 people stayed in one room. No one says anything. you will be able to get unlimited room service for towers and stuff. You will be able to get extra blankets etc also. Just 2 people check in. It applies to almost all hotels. So this will really help you manage your budget and stay in better hotel.

2) If you dont want to stay with more than 2 peopel in a room or only few people are traveling then best bet is Excalibur. It is on the strip, so all places are at walking distance and it is very cheap and decent rooms to spend a night or more. I have stayed there most of my time.

2nd choice should be luxor. Luxor is a very good hotel and you will find its prices little expensive than Excalibur but i think it is worth it.

Dont stay in any hotel which is not on strip for example palms or any other. the reason is that you will either have to walk so much to come to strip where all action is or you will have to take cab which will add to expenses.

Tip - When you are just going out to roam around, wear comfortable shoes, it involves a lot of walking. better take a cab on way back it is cheap. When is the best time to go to Vegas for cheap flights and hotels?
Best Time to Buy Airline Tickets to Las Vegas

Ok, out with the bad news and on to what you really want to know, when to buy airline tickets to Vegas.

More specifically, when to start shopping for your airline tickets and subsequently when to virtually swipe your credit card for the cheapest possible flight, or at least the best deals available.
The least expensive time to go to Las Vegas, and this is every year. Is in December, after the NFR(National Finals Rodeo) up until the weekend before Christmas. During this two weeks, they practically give rooms away.

This year those dates are Sunday December 11th up until Friday December 23rd

I suggest checking both Hotels.com and any hotels web site you're interested in. Then hold a good deal but don't stop looking, because more than likely a great deal will come along between now and 12/11
