Can I get cheap long haul flights by just turning up at Heathrow?

I want to get to Australia (any city) as cheap as possible. Do airlines sell seats cheaply to fill up a flight? I don't mind spending a couple of days in Heathrow waiting for a cheap flight if it saves me a significant amount. Whenever I have checked on airlines websites, flights the next day are pretty much the same price as ones in advance. ThanksCan I get cheap long haul flights by just turning up at Heathrow?

It will be extremely expensive if you do not buy your tickets at least 14-21 days before your departure date. Airlines will not sell you a cheap last minute flight just to fill up that seat. If they did, everyone would wait until the last minute to buy their tickets. If you want to go to Australia at a low price, find out when low travel season is and you will save a lot on the plane ticket. Can I get cheap long haul flights by just turning up at Heathrow?

typically no, but you could get lucky. i would recommend searching a bunch of sites before you fly. there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
